The Taliban tribe first seized Afghanistan about 20 years ago in the matter of trade. Since Afghanistan is very rich in mineral resources and other natural reserves, it will play an important role in its cooperation with other economies however their main objective was to establish an islamic government through law and order.
Taliban completed its surprisingly rapid capture on Kabul on august 15 and it resulted in the death of tens of thousands of people. Talibans emerged in the civil war in 1989 and they took vows to fight corruption and improve security. They follow a hardline version of Sharia or Islamic law that includes severe and brutal punishments. Some of the laws include men growing beards and women wearing burqas which is an article of clothing especially worn in the Islamic traditions that covers their body from their head to toes and keeping only their eyes uncovered, homosexuals in Brunei are still subject to penalties such as whipping and amputation. Back in the 2000s when the Taliban had taken over Afghanistan they had also banned any means of entertainment including TV, cinema and music.
The ideology of the taliban tribe suggests that women should be predominantly restricted from pursuing work and studies, confined to their homes until and unless they are accompanied by a man. The womens of the nation face an uncertain future, one of the Taliban spokesperson said “the group will respect the rights of women and minorities as per Afghan norms and Islamic values". They say that they have changed and their only aim is to implement an ‘Islamic government’ but what we do have to think is to what extent are their values and norms going to restrict the female society of the nation. Afghanistan is in the radar of crisis and the one’s being affected the most are the children and women, women as young as the age of twelve being forcibly taken away out of their own homes and being used as objects of sexual pleasure or as they call it ‘wives’ for their fighters as an offering for fighting for their nation. Talib means ‘seeker’ or ‘student’ but ironically enough the talib community isn’t what the name suggests, these people are murderers, terrorists, they are rapists and because of them, Afghanistan is now a prison for women.
This issue is global and undoubtedly grave but at the same time spreading awareness amongst every individual and being conscious about what is happening is a crying need. What is going on in Afghanistan is a global issue and we as human beings need to help them. How many more corpses will it take for the world to wake up and realise if we don’t end war, wars will end us. The idea of generating or forcibly creating a section of people where they have no say in the developing situation of their own nation seems ridiculously extreme, especially expecting their people to simply cope with this law or lose their life.
